The Onkyo TX-SR705 is one of the best-selling receivers on the market now . . . and for good reason. The TX-SR705 features 100 watts/ch, HDMI 1.3a compatibility (and 3 of those inputs), internal 
decoding for the latest lossless high-definition audio formats, XM and Sirius Satellite Radio compatibility, and HDMI-based system control integration. Additionally, it is capable of accommodating single-cable pure-digital audio and video transfer from HDMI sources, including 1080p and Deep-Color capability. At $899, Onkyo’s TX-SR705 receiver is a bona fide bargain providing a nearly ideal combination of cutting-edge technologies, featuresthat make a meaningful difference for listeners, and most important, sophisticated sound. No other AVR I’ve heard does more for less.

Onkyo TX-SR705 home theater receiver will set you up for the next 5 years or more. It has everything the modern home theater needs: the power, loads of inputs, 7.1 audio, up-conversion of SD-video via HDMI to up to 1080p/24p.
I found the audio performance of this receiver to be excellent. The SR705 delivers more than enough power for a medium size room and sounds great with both both music and movies, even with modest speakers systems.
Why should I get a 705 over the 605?
